About NEET (UG)

The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET (UG), formerly known as the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT), is an all-India pre-medical entrance exam for candidates wishing to enrol in undergraduate programmes in medicine (MBBS), dental (BDS), and AYUSH (BAMS, BUMS, BHMS, etc.) at government and private institutions in India and also for those planning to pursue primary medical training overseas.

National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the test; it then forwards the results to the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and State Counselling Authorities for seat allotment.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), which is now the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India (GOI), as a leading testing organisation for conducting effective, transparent, and international-standard tests to determine the competency of applicants for admission to prestigious higher education institutions.

Exam Syllabus and Structure

The NCERT-recommended curriculum for Classes 11 and 12 in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology make up the NEET (UG) syllabus. The NEET exam consists of 180 questions, with 45 questions from the four subject areas of Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, and Botany. Each correct answer earns four points, while each wrong answer receives a -1 negative marking. The test duration is 3 hours 20 minutes (200 mins). The exam carries 720 points (maximum marks).

NEET Counselling

All NEET undergraduate (MBBS/BDS) aspirant candidates are now reminded that the Medical Counseling Committee/Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India will conduct the counselling for All India Quota seats/Institutional Quota/Domicile (internal candidates) of Central Universities (Aligarh Muslim University/Banaras Hindu University/University of Delhi/Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi), (wards of ESIC insured persons) seats of colleges under Employee State Insurance Corporation, and Armed Forces Medical College, Pune for the undergraduate session 2019-20.

NEET 2022 Counselling

The NEET UG 2022 results are available, and successful students should apply for admission to medical programmes at their top-choice universities. In India, State and All India quotas for undergraduate medical seats are split in an 85-15 proportion. The NEET 2022 cut off scores will be used to shortlist candidates for counselling.

For state quota seats, the appropriate state counselling agencies will hold the admissions procedure following that state’s rules and regulations. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of the Director General of Health Services (DGHS) is in charge of conducting NEET counselling for AIQ admissions by employing a set of criteria.

For admission to MBBS/BDS programmes, all medical institutions take the NEET score into account. There is no distinct state or university-level exam for admission to these programmes. The seats would be filled in the categories listed:
